OOE: The After-Party

December 14, 2008 by Landon

Through what seemed like a mixture of ingenuity, predestination, and pure dumb luck, officers under the command of Captain Ikari had a reputation for coming on to the scene of a crime a day too late. They would swoop in, long after the dust had settled and long after other officers had dealt with the actual action, and conveniently wrap up the case. They would then proceed to claim victory in the name of the DMS Zetsobou, stealing away the credit from the individuals who did all of the real footwork.

OOE Quickies: The Sordid Adventures of Billy and Mack (Part 1)

December 8, 2008 by Landon

Mack and Billy came upon The Maw of Jonah. The Maw was an ornate twelve foot tall archway carved into the side of one of the mountains in the Blue Granite range of Hedorrah. It was said that The Maw is the entryway to an ancient burial ground for Imperial Zeroan nobles, and Mack had been licking his chops for years to have the chance to get inside. Unfortunately, Pharaoh’s lingering essences had been empowering the numerous Visage of Pharaoh masks that formed a perimeter around the archway.

OOE: Bullets and Cake

December 7, 2008 by Landon

“I didn’t get a chance to tell you before, Farah!” Johnny yelled as he blindly fired behind his back. “Happy birthday!”

“Thanks!” Farah yelled back as she ducked behind an abandoned vehicle, avoiding a hail of bullets. “And I loved the present! I’m surprised you remembered!”

Johnny and Farah darted across the sidewalk and into a narrow alley, narrowly avoiding a barrage of gunfire. As they ducked into the alley, a door quietly opened, revealing a hand that motioned for them. Johnny and Farah quickly ran to the door and slipped in.

“If you two would stop acting like this was a date and start acting like this is a life and death situation,” a female voice said as Johnny and Farah closed the door behind them, “the three of us will have a better chance of making it out of this situation alive.”

OOE: Black Star Shining in a Red Sky (Part 3)

December 3, 2008 by Landon

Explosions rattled Aleister and Johnny’s cell, as alarms and screams echoed all around.

“A fiver says that’s Bas and Farah to the rescue,” Aleister said smugly.

“That’s hardly the kind of bet I’d like to go against,” Johnny responded in kind.

OOE: Black Star Shining in a Red Sky (Part 2)

November 30, 2008 by Landon

“So I pulled out old Cutty here and took a chunk out of the bitch’s face.” Bas boasted as she pulled out one of her myriad of knives, twirling it around in her hand. “Nothing to really hurt her or anything, but it was enough to get the skank to drop them.”

OOE: Black Star Shining in a Red Sky (Part 1)

November 26, 2008 by Landon

“Johnny,” Aleister said as he downed a shot of Gevia whiskey, “you have a way with finding the sleaziest, crappiest, most despicable bars in the known universe, and I gotta love you for it!”

“When you’ve been around the quad as many times as I have,” Johnny responded, slowly sipping from a cup of crystal clear liquor, “you get a nose for these kinds of things. Felines can see you in pitch darkness, and lupines can sniff you out in a garbage dump, but Johnnies can scrounge up the best dives in the universe.”

OOE: Damn Lame

November 23, 2008 by Landon

The Ambermoss system, by typical frontier standards, was fairly quiet and quaint. The system had no significant material resources, so the various corporations and criminal organizations had little reason to have an extensive presence. The system wasn’t near any important trade routes as well, giving pirates little reason to frequent the relatively remote system. The system was established as a join Church-University colony roughly fifty years ago, when the two organizations were planning on establishing a series of Church-centered schools to train future Brothers and Sisters, but as relations between the two organizations waned over the years that plan was abandoned.

Characters: Mack

November 23, 2008 by Landon

What can you say about Mack that isn’t an invective? To describe Mack is an exercise in listing every insult one knows and inventing new ones to fill in the gaps. Mack is the very essence of scum and villainy.

He’s also one of the “good guys”.

Characters: Sophia DiMedicci

November 20, 2008 by Landon

The DiMedicci Republic is the largest autonomous nation in the galaxy. Most nations that exist outside of the Democratic Republic are faily recent creations, being born in the wake of Pharaoh’s death and the dissolution of his Empire. The Republic is one of the few exceptions.
